Welcome Henan Medical Team’s visit to our Taipei office |
|
Mr. Fung, the General Manager of Kang Mei Da Trading Co. Ltd. located in Henan Province of China, leads a group of medical experts to visit UIS EOD. During the trip, the team toured Taipei Medical University Hospital, Health Aesthetics Center, and Wan Fang Hospital. Under the hospitality of Dr, Chen Shih-Ching (Taipei Medical University Hospital) and Dr. Lin Bo-Wei (Wan Fang Hospital), the team was able to explore both hospitals’ medical environments and equipments. The medical exchange trip allowed all parties to discuss the current and the future trend of rehabilitation, with an agreement on more medical cooperation.

The 2011 5th China Association of Acupuncture-Moxibustion and Acupuncture Apparatus Expo took place in Bejing (Aug.19th-Aug.22nd, 2011). More than 1,300 well known acupuncture experts and doctors were present to exchange the acupuncture studies, clinical results as well as applied the World Heritage. Vice President of EOD UIS Dr. David O. |
EOD UIS regional sales representative Kang Mei Da Trading Co. Ltd. hosted Taiwan China Rehabilitation Summit on Aug.14th, 2011 at Zhengzhou Henan Hotel was successfully ended. During the meeting, numerous rehabilitation, pain relief, and medical directors across Henan Province were on site and introduced EOD UIS Multi-Channel Laser Therapy Systems. EOD further invited Dr. Lin Bo-Wei from Wan Fang Hospital (Taiwan) to share the success on the utilization of LLLT in relation with rehabilitation, and pain relief. With the relentless effort of everyone in UIS Electro Optical Department, UIS low level laser treatment devices has gained market share rapidly in China market. To further consolidate the market effectively, UIS distributor “Beijing Huei Hwan Kan Da Technology Development Company” held a “Seminar and Product Launch Event of Attachable Laser Devices” on May 27th in Beijing. The event was hosted by Liu Yen Ching, MD, who is also the VP of Beijing Pain Association and the Director of Pain Clinic in Beijing Tiantan Hospital. UIS Electro Optical Department has also invited Lin Bo Wei, MD, Director of Rehabilitation Department of Wan Fang Hospital and Professor Chi Hua Wu of Biomedical Engineering Department of Ming Chuan University to give speeches in the event. Director Lin and Professor Wu gave speeches on the topics of “Applications of Low Level Laser Treatment on Rehabilitation Medicine” and “Clinical Applications and Future Overviews of Laser Treatment Devices”, respectively. Both of them have engaged in in-depth conversation and discussion with attendants regarding laser treatment products and their applications.

WHO raises influenza pandemic alert level, Taiwan establishes Central Epidemic Command Center in response |

The World Health Organization’s (WHO’s) emergency committee
decided to raise the influenza pandemic alert level after its
meeting on April 27, 2009 in Geneva. Following the WHO’s Emergency
Committee’s advice, the WHO Director-General immediately announced
raising the level of influenza pandemic alert to phase 4.
Simultaneously, Taiwan established the Central Epidemic Command
Center as planned in response to the current confirmed human outbreaks
of A/H1N1 swine influenza overseas. On April 28, 2009, the Central
Epidemic Command Center held its first meeting hosted by the Minister
of Health, Ching-Chuan Yeh, and the participating agencies included
the Department of Health, the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of
Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Economic Affairs, etc.
Since no human case of swine influenza has occurred in Taiwan, the Department of Health pointed out that the current focus in Taiwan’s prevention efforts is to stop the importation of the disease. Control measures against importation of the disease include increasing the level of travel warning and enhancing the existing practices of border quarantine. Travelers are advised to avoid areas affected by the outbreak. Nevertheless, influenza spreads rapidly. Therefore, human cases of swine influenza can occur in Taiwan at any time. To prepare for the worst possible scenario, Taiwan has decided to proceed with the preparation work outlined in “Strategic Pandemic Influenza Preparedness Plan” in order to coordinate cross-sectoral efforts and supply management of medical resources, which were discussed in the first meeting held by the Central Epidemic Command Center.
As of April 28 2009, Mexico has reported almost 3000 human cases of swine influenza A(H1N1), including 149 deaths. The United States has reported 40 laboratory confirmed human cases of infection with the same virus that had mild Influenza-Like Illness with only one requiring brief hospitalization, in 5 states. Canada has reported six laboratory confirmed human cases. Spain has reported one case, while the United Kingdom has reported two cases.

The United States Government has reported seven confirmed human cases of Swine Influenza A/H1N1 in the USA (five in California and two in Texas) and nine suspect cases. All seven confirmed cases had mild Influenza-Like Illness (ILI), with only one requiring brief hospitalization. No deaths have been reported.
The Government of Mexico has reported three separate events. In the Federal District of Mexico, surveillance began picking up cases of ILI starting 18 March. The number of cases has risen steadily through April and as of 23 April there are now more than 854 cases of pneumonia from the capital. Of those, 59 have died. In San Luis Potosi, in central Mexico, 24 cases of ILI, with three deaths, have been reported. And from Mexicali, near the border with the United States, four cases of ILI, with no deaths, have been reported.
